ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder- with or without Hyperactivity - ADHD
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a problem of not being able to focus, being overactive, not being
able control behavior, or a combination of these. For these problems to be diagnosed as ADHD, they must be out
of the normal range for a person's age and development.
Attention Deficit Disorder is not just a childhood disorder. ADHD-ADD can affect children, teens and adults.
More than 15 million Americans are estimated to be affected by ADHD. In 2007, over 5 million, or 9.5%, of US school-aged children were reported by their parents to have ever been diagnosed with ADHD. It is estimated that 4.4%, or 10 million, US adults aged 18 to 44 have ADHD. This estimate was based on a survey of 3,199 adults aged 18 to 44 and applied to the full US population aged 18 and over.
