Counselors - William R. (Bill) Mullener, MA, LPC, LCDC, NCC Bill currently serves as a Licensed Professional Counselor and therapist for the Champions Christian Counseling Center in Tomball, TX. After receiving his B.B.A. in Business Management from Texas A&M University, Bill entered the U.S. Air Force and flew 146 combat missions in the AC-130 Gunship during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Aerial Achievement Medal, the Air Medal with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. He left active duty to take a position with Delta Airlines and rose to the rank of Captain on the MD-88, while maintaining his affiliation with the Air Force Reserves. He was recalled to active duty during the 1990 Desert Shield/Desert Storm operation in Iraq. He retired from Delta in 1996 and from the Air Force Reserves in 1997 with the rank of Lt. Col. After his retirements, Bill enrolled at Sam Houston State University for his Masters in Counseling. He graduated from that program, having been named the Outstanding Community Counselor by Chi Sigma Iota, the National Counseling Honor Society. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in the State of Texas, as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor. He is a highly regarded author, having co-authored a textbook on Human Growth and Development as well as numerous articles published in The Family Journal, The Journal of Professional Counseling, and The Journal of Counseling and Development, among others. His public speaking and presentation skills are highly regarded, and he has been asked to present on a wide variety of subjects at both State and National level conferences. Bill is a member of the Texas Counseling Association, where he serves as a Senator for the Brazos Valley Counseling Association as well as the Chairman of the "Give an Hour" statewide task force. This is an initiative designed to provide pro-bono counseling to military members and their families. He was recently presented the Texas Counseling Association Distinguished Service Award for his efforts in that program. He is a member of the American Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota, and numerous other service and philanthropic organizations. Bill believes every person has the ability to heal with God's help. He is a strong and committed Christian, having received the highest award presented by the Lutheran Church for service to youth. He is an Eagle Scout, and has served youth through the Boy Scouts of America for many years. His areas of interest in counseling include dual-diagnosis (or co-occurring disorders), chemical addiction, veteran's issues, PTSD, and marriage and family issues. He truly enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, going on cruises, and anything having to do with the outdoors. He and his wife, Diane, live in Plantersville with their seven dogs. |
