Kathryn I. Matteson, MA, LPC

Kathryn presently serves as a Licensed Professional Counselor for the Community Christian Counseling Center of Tomball.

Kathryn is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling. Before finishing her BA in French and German, Kathryn traveled extensively while employed for 18 years in the international aviation industry.

As a mother of two teen boys, Kathryn and her sons enjoy kayaking and hiking through the many Texas State Parks.

A strong proponent for the benefits of animal-assisted therapies, Kathryn utilizes CAP shelter dog “Diesel Dusel” who has achieved his Therapy Dog International and Canine Good Citizen certification for Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT), and Honeycrisp, a Mini Rex Lagomorph (rabbit). These therapies are particularly beneficial for those with ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, and OCD.  This is beneficial for children, adolescents, and adults.

Kathryn is a member of the American Counseling Association, the Texas Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Honor Society, and the Southern Region ADHD Association. Volunteer activities include a former role as an Assistant Scout Master and Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor. Previous activities include Big Brothers and Sisters, The Houston Area Women’s Center, SIRE (Therapeutic Riding for handicapped children), 4H, and Sunday school leader. Kathryn believes in the power and strength of the Lord to help us through our trials rather than carrying the weight on our own shoulders.
