Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD) & Attention-Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity (ADHD)
Most of these children will achieve below their intellectual capacity due to the related symptoms described earlier. This does not mean, however, that these children have lower IQ's. ADHD occurs along all intellectual levels and many of these children have above average IQ levels. The symptoms usually decrease as the child reaches maturity. Some symptoms may continue through adulthood. There can be secondary disorders such as depression, feelings of inadequacy, and/or low self-esteem. These can be diagnosed and treated, as well.
