Divorce
The decision to become divorced is very complex and not one that is made easily. Most individuals experience a lot of uncertainty, anxiety, and apprehension about the decision. Most will experience some situational depression symptoms before, during, and / or after divorce. It is important that you have an objective person to help you work through this decision. There are also a lot of excellent books on the market about marriage, relationships, and divorce. Are some differences irreconcilable? Some marriages involve one or more partners who are addicted and / or abusive. Some partners are chronically unfaithful. Some partners are mentally ill. In these types of extreme situations, the individuals issues must be addressed before marital therapy will be possible. In instances of physical abuse to the spouse or children, safety must be the priority and these relationships may not ever be safe. Some individuals reach "a point of no return" and lose their motivation to work on the marriage. This may be due to chronic unresolved issues, inability to communicate effectively, or lack of changes by the partner.
