Grief
& Loss
Normal
Stages
The normal stages of grief and loss
are:
- Denial
- Denial is the natural first step of grieving, when
our minds are "in shock”, not yet ready for reality.
- Bargaining
- We bargain in an attempt to find an easier way
to cope with the change.
- Anger
- When bargaining does not work, we are angry at
God, our fate, society, our family etc. and beginning to feel
our pain.
- Sadness
- We feel the pain of the reality that things will
never be as they were before, and we are very sad.
- Readjustment
- As we readjust, we feel the peace and tranquility
of having lived through the pain and survived to walk a new path
towards a new goal.
“There is no birth of consciousness without
pain.”
-- Carl Jung --
Loss, great or small, is always accompanied by grief.
Emotional pain is part of the healing process.
